The Tea Party

This morning I received a call from my sister pleading for help. "I have so much to do! I don't think I can get it all done in time! Help!" Ella's 8th birthday party was today and there was so much to get done before the Ladies arrived. Here's the thing...my sister loves to have theme parties. Seth's party this past year was robots and Ella was going to have an Alice in Wonderland inspired Mad Hatter's Tea Party. Everything was "mini".

Unfortunately, there was no time for the puff pastry in my freezer to thaw in time but I did have mini loaf pans and ripe bananas...mmm, banana bread with chocolate chips.

She had made little flags that said "eat me" and "have a nibble" to stick into the food. We have a new camera and I was able to get some really great pictures of the feast. I helped make cucumber and cream cheese tea sandwiches and a beautiful fruit platter.

There was also a huge plate of iced sugar cookies. Every time I called Deb in the last few days she was icing those cookies! They were gorgeous! Small flowers and butterflies, large squares with "EAT ME" written on them and very Victorian-esque wallpaper designs. I will easily admit that she puts a ton of hard work and hours into those beautiful cookies. They were so tasty!

There were scones and chocolate coated strawberries.

Meringue mushrooms, pink m&m's, pomegranate jelly bellies, chips, fizzy juice and tea! Whew! A lot of work which got devoured by those "Ladies" in a few hours. I think they ate so much during afternoon tea that they had no room for the cake at the end! It looked great as well.

We went shopping last week for goodie bags and the stuffs to go inside, we found small brown paper bags which looked like oversized tea bags. It's too bad that I didn't get a picture of them :(. I spent the last week making crochet strawberries to go inside of them. The pictures of them aren't that great, but you'll get the idea. I also had make some tiny cupcakes which were so cute, didn't get any pictures of them finished though. We gave them to some of the girls as game prizes.

Sweet Little Sweets

These are just random pictures taken of my sweet little sweet.
Thank goodness she is in bed right now!
Wow, some days are tougher than others...

New Passion

Amigurumi. What is that you ask? Well, let me tell you that it is a new found passion of mine! Amigurumi is the Japanese art of crocheting dolls. Deb bought me two Amigurumi books for Christmas and I'm hooked! The stitch in the 'gurumis are very small and so I've ordered ergonomic crochet hooks online. Mom and Dad are picking them up for me today. I can't wait to get my hands on them.

Here's my first attempt at an Amigurumi...yeah, it's only a carrot, but next it's strawberries, then a full cheeseburger with the works, cookies and then it's on to the animals.

I'm pretty excited to be one of these crafty moms. Violett and my niece and nephews will reap the benefit of my craftiwork!
